Nrusingha Town High School of Sambalpur emerged champions in the 53rd State Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup School Football Tournament, defeating Cuttack 1-0 in the final at Bamara today. Sudam Oram scored the all-important goal in the second half.
With this win, the Sambalpur school qualified to represent Odisha in the All-India Subroto Cup Tournament to be held at New Delhi in November.
Earlier in the semifinals, Sambalpur beat Balasore 2-0, while Cuttack trounced Bolangir 3-0. Ajay Ekka and Sujit Tirkey scored for Sambalpur, while Purna Chandra Samal, Bikash Padhiari and Bhagirathi Padhiari struck for Cuttack.
